They say that we become what we do…and I couldn’t agree more! Our time management habits are critical for shaping our everyday life.
And we all have them. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just there — like drinking your coffee on your way to work. Or reading your kids a bedtime story. Or waiting until the last minute to fold your laundry because it’s your least favorite chore.
Our habits shape our entire lives.
In fact, studies show that we spend around 40% of our day just doing habits! They are the nearly invisible building blocks of our daily life, therefore, so so important.
But…what do they have to do with time management?
Habits and time management go hand in hand
Think about it…if we have good habits, we likely have good time management. But if we have bad habits — like maybe scrolling through Instagram too much when we’re working on a consistent basis — then we might have bad time management.
And because our habits shape our lives, they will most certainly shape the way we manage our time, too.
So how can you build the best time management habits you possibly can? And how do you make them stick around?
Well, the truth is that there’s no “top 100 best habits list” or anything like it out there. Like many of the building blocks of better time management, it’s not a one size fits all solution.
