Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat. — Laura Ingalls Wilder
And I couldn’t agree more! Here on the first day of spring, I’m upping the game by adding a few to-dos to your list. Don’t worry, they’re all-play-no-work.
One of the most important episodes I’ve recorded so far is Episode 31, From Chaos To Clarity: The 5 Things You Need To Take Back Your Life. It’s definitely worth a listen if you haven’t already – I take the time to outline the foundation on which I’ve built my entire business: Living with HEART. Living with heart, at its core – is living a life of purpose. You’ve probably heard me say before that time management is heart management – because you can’t even begin to purposefully plan your days and weeks without knowing what’s truly important.
H. E. A. R. T.
- H for habits.
- E for energy
- A for attention
- R for recharge
- And T for time.
So – what’s that got to do with spring? That’s where the fourth letter – R for recharge – comes in. In Episode 60, I do a deep dive on just how important it is to recharge through rest, relationships and recreation. It seems the “R” is always shoved to the bottom of our to-do list, and it couldn’t be more important.
In an effort to help my community prioritize Recharge activities, I’ll be releasing a seasonal bucket list at the start of each season. Welcome to the first edition!
Here’s my Spring Bucket List for 2022
Plan a brunch with friends.
Catch up with the friends you don’t get to chat with all that often, and pair the action with trying out a new restaurant in your city! One of my favorite brunch spots in New Orleans is Elizabeth’s in the Bywater. And if you’re in the Baton Rouge area, there’s still time to grab your seat to The Spring Reset!
Enjoy an evening family stroll.
Once we get past the initial shell shock of resetting those clocks, Daylight Savings Time does have its upsides – take advantage of later sunsets by strolling around the block after dinner. Take the time to ask your family how their days went!
Try a new recipe on the grill.
First comes spring, next comes summer – polish up your skills on the grill by trying out a new recipe. We’re really enjoying cooking out of the latest issue of Southern Living magazine right now!
TIP: No grill? No problem. Spread a blanket and have a picnic, or set your dinner table outside to dine al fresco!
Check in on your goals.
I can’t believe I’m typing this, but the close of March is also the close of the first quarter of the year. Gosh time flies! Use the change of season to slow down for a moment and check your progress on your goals. If you haven’t pulled out your Cultivate What Matters PowerSheets yet, now’s the time! Are you where you thought you’d be? What adjustments need to be made? Oftentimes we get too stuck working in our tasks that we forget to work on the big picture.
Look for a spring fair!
One of my favorite springtime traditions is to spend the day wandering through historic New Orleans, listening to music and enjoying yummy foods during French Quarter Fest. See if there’s something similar near your town, or check for a sidewalk sale or farmers market!
Get your sight set on spring!
This list is just a sampling of a few activities I’m personally excited to add to my calendar, but there are so many more ideas for engaging with the season. Comment below with your favorite way to incorporate Recharge onto your springtime calendar – and don’t forget to do just that: add it to your calendar! The most foolproof way to make sure your intentions turn into actions.
